World of James Cameron’s Avatar Coming To Mobile!

In 2009 James Cameron and 20th Century Fox released Avatar.  If you’re one of the ten people in the world that haven’t seen Avatar, it is a movie that takes place in the future.  Humans have begun colonizing other worlds and are now focused on the planet Pandora.  In the movie Cameron explores the relationship between the Na’Vi and the planet in addition to the conflict between the Na’Vi and the humans.  The film shows us a pretty amazing world with incredible landscapes, strange creatures and more.  The movie was insanely successful and now holds the record for the highest-grossing motion picture of all time, with box office revenues of $2.8 billion!

Today Kabam announced that they have partnered with Lightstorm Entertainment and 20th Century Fox to develop a massive multiplayer mobile strategy game.  The game is set in the world of Avatar and will have elements and characters from the movie.  The goal of the game is to reacquaint users with the world of Avatar, in preparation for the release of Avatar 2 (rumored to be released in December of 2018).

Kabam has previously partnered with several other names including Marvel, Lucasfilm, Warner Brothers and Universal Studios.  They were the developers behind Star Wars: Uprising, Marvel Contest of Champions, Spirit Lords and more.  Kabam brings to the table a large library of quality titles as well as a massive amount of experience developing quality games.

Phones and tablets will become high fidelity windows into a living, breathing, interactive world of stunning beauty.  The company has put forward one of the largest development budgets in mobile gaming history and assigned some of its top talent. There is no release date for the game as of yet.  Let’s hope it isn’t like the release date for Avatar 2, that keeps getting moved further and further back.
