iPhone 6S 0.2mm Thicker Than Original iPhone 6

Back with the original announcement of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus there was a lot of attention given to how thin the phone was and how it was unlike any other device out there.  Not to long after it was released the media was then hit with “Bendgate”.  Due to the thinness of the iPhone 6 Plus people were finding that it was very easy to bend when kept in your pocket or mishandled.  This then lead to a bevy of videos like the one below.

@OnLeaks recently posted several renders of the new iPhone 6 S’ body that were for third-party case manufactures so that they could have cases ready when the device is released.  The images indicate that both the iPhone 6S and the 6S Plus will have bodies that are 0.2mm thicker than their predecessors.

Is this Apple trying to avoid another “Bendgate” fiasco?
