Blizzard started sending out emails yesterday letting everyone know that they are getting ready to roll out Hearthstone’s next expansion. The latest expansion will be “One Night in Karazhan” and will be available on August 11th.
The game’s site gives us the following introduction: “Karazhan, long a potent nexus of arcane energies, is about to become the focal point of a very different kind of cosmic force. The wizard Medivh has used every bit of magic at his disposal to set up the most lavish and extravagant party of all time, and your name is on the guest list alongside the crème de la crème of Azeroth and beyond! With such an eclectic mix of attendees, it’s guaranteed that this party will be out of this world. But as you groove to the music and let the sights dazzle you, beware; one night in Karazhan, and even tough guys tumble. Keep your decks straight, your wits sharp, and above all, stay alive!”
Similar to their previous expansions this One Night in Karazhan will be an adventure, with four wings. These wings can each be unlocked with in-app purchases or all at once for a slight discount. Unlike previous expansions this one will come with a prologue chapter (or wing), that will give you a taste of what is to come before purchasing the other chapters. If you buy the full expansion within the first week of the release you will receive a Karazhan themed card back.
Once you have unlocked the adventure you will be able to play with, and win, new cards. They will range from your regular common cards, to rare cards and even new legendary cards. Many of these new cards will only be available through the adventure. There are 45 new cards in all, not counting the golden versions.
There are also hints of a new card mechanic, “portals”. The invitation I received reads, “Portals Everywhere: This party is so intense, it’s warping the very fabric of space and time to bring in more guests! Use the new portal spell cards to unleash the magic and summon random minions to the field.”
As a self admitted Hearthstone addict I am super pumped for another addition to the Hearthstone world and can’t wait to try it out!
